RCT has developed the RCTClean 3.0gr Solution, a patented, retrofit solution that improves operating efficiencies and cuts pollutant emissions of 2SLB engines used in the gathering and transmission of natural gas.

RCTClean 3.0gr Solution

The RCTClean 3.0gr Solution reduces NOx and methane emissions by enhancing the four major processes that affect combustion on an engine:

1) Enhanced Ignition System;

2) Enhanced Fuel-Air Mixing;

3) Enhanced Air for Lean Burn; and

4) Enhanced Engine Controls for safety and reliability.

Validation & Optimization Testing

The RCTClean 3.0gr Solution was validated through testing at the Colorado State University Energy Institute Powerhouse Campus on a Cooper Bessemer GMV-4 engine. The new EPA Good Neighbor Plan (GNP) and new pending Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rule (GHGRR) for methane emissions reduction influenced the RCTClean 3.0gr Solution development goals. The design goals for The RCTClean 3.0gr Solution were:

  1. NOx reduction well below the 3.0gram limit
  2. Methane reduction of at least 35%
  3. Demonstrate potential to simultaneously improve other emissions (CO, THC,  CH2O) profiles
  4. Combustion stability (COV) improvement of at least 50%
  5. Eliminate the need for higher pressure electronic fuel injection systems
  6. Eliminate the need for a turbocharger upgrade
  7. Reduce Total Retrofit Cost by at least 50% relative to industry available options
  8. Reduce Project Completion time by at least 50% relative to industry available options
